A collaborative consortium based in Texas and rooted in higher education, the Texas Digital Library builds capacity among its membership for ensuring equitable access to and preservation of digital content of value to research, instruction, cultural heritage, and institutional memory. The hosting and aggregation services we provide facilitate Open Access (OA) to research and scholarship, data, educational materials and cultural heritage materials.
TDL members share the cost of maintaining community-supported infrastructure for Open Access. Rather than acting as a commercial vendor, TDL operates as a partnership among member institutions, which collectively fund, govern, and support this work. TDL members and their faculty and staff constitute a community who actively support each other and the public interest.

Our Values
Service-oriented. TDL connects libraries to affordable, open source technology solutions with secure storage and persistent services. We ensure members have the support they need to use these services effectively through engaged technical support, training, and the coordination of mutual support networks.
Member-powered. TDL’s members fund us, govern us, and provide oversight and direction to our work. Additionally, TDL members support each other and the larger digital library community through collaborative training programs, leadership of member groups, and participation on working groups and committees.
Open. The services TDL provides facilitate the Open Access (OA) of materials – particularly of research and scholarship. Additionally, TDL actively supports the use of open source software applications (meaning software whose code is made freely available to all under an open source license) and strives to be open and transparent with our decision-making, our documentation, and our work.
