Baylor University, a member University of the Texas Digital Library consortium, will be hosting two full-day training sessions on its campus in Waco, Texas. The first session will take place on July 23 and will focus on DSpace. This session is for those charged with the responsibility of managing a repository. The DSpace course will cover the following:

SESSION 1 – July 23
DSpace Administration and Use
Instructors: Scott Phillips, Texas Digital Library, Jay Koenig, Texas A&M University
This course will provide the student an overview of how to use and manage DSpace, and hand-on practice using the system administrative interface. During this session students will create communities and collections, and submit and process items through the workflow system. Finally we will cover some advanced topics such as batch importing of collections

SESSION 2 – July 24
The ETD Submittal and Management System
Instructor: Adam Mikeal, Texas A&M University
This course will provide an overview of the Vireo system, and hands-on practice using the system to shepherd a thesis or dissertation through the entire workflow of the ETD process. A participant will submit a thesis using the student submittal interface, then process and approve the document using the staff administrative interface. Finally, they will see the finalized document “published” in the testbed repository set up for the class.
