FAQs

The following guidelines are meant to help attendees and presenters of the 2017 TCDL. Should you have additional questions, please contact the Texas Digital Library (info@tdl.org).

Q. How do I submit a proposal?

A. All proposals (e.g., presentations, panels, posters, workshops, BOFs, etc.) must be submitted by the proposal deadline, February 3, 2017. Complete proposals should be submitted by clicking "Step One of the Submission Process" link, also linked on the Call for Proposals page. You will be required to log into the system to submit a proposal and select the session type. Keep in mind:

  • If your proposal is accepted, you MUST REGISTER for the conference and are responsible for registration, housing, and travel costs.
  • With all submissions, include 1) Proposal Session Title, 2) Abstract (no more than 500 words), and 3) Speaker Information: For all speakers, include name, title, institution, brief bio (less than 100 words), email address.

Q. Do I have to register for the conference if my proposal is accepted?

A. Yes, you must register for the conference to present. There is a discounted rate for attendees from TDL member institutions and an early-bird registration discount if you register by April 14, 2017.

Q. Will the conference host (Texas Digital Library) cover any other conference-related expenses for presenters?

A. No, the TDL does not cover any other conference-related expenses for presenters. We rely on registration funding and sponsorships to pay for the venue and conference arrangements.

Q. Can I attend just a portion of the conference and not pay the full registration?

A. No. The TCDL registration is for all 3 days of the conference, including pre-conference workshops. There may be special pre- or post-conference workshops or training opportunities that will require a separate registration and small fee.

Q. Do I have to be a TDL member to register for the conference?

No. However, attendees from TDL member institutions receive a discount on conference registration.

Q. May I promote my accepted session on Twitter?

A. Yes! Let's work together to create some buzz about your participation in TCDL 2017. Please promote your own presentation as well as the conference in general to your colleagues and social networks. @TxDigLibrary | #tcdl2017
